Lower flight of stairs is framed...

After that push last week, and a meeting with school folks, I took a couple of days off to join a friend in the mountains, and had a really restorative time.  Then I drove back, meeting Amelie in Novato after she'd made a Home Depot run, and we drove up Lucas Valley together

When we arrived (under gray skies that may or may not deliver the rain that has been in the forecast, and which had motivated Tom to shift around his schedule to make sure he got the last concrete pour done, I dashed on over to check in.  I found Muggs making a lumber list for stair posts and stiffeners, with the footing excavated and poured.  Very cool.

He's going to head back for several days while I move on the deck board milling and some other chores.  One twist will be to figure out a way to secure the rest of the fasteners at the top of the stringer, which in this configuration has dirt underneath.  I will be reclining in the mud a bit, methinks.  We'll probably place some temporary stair treads on the stringers just for ease of access, as well as a plywood top for the landing frame.

It's a little early to start talking about visualizing the finish line, but once deck boards start going on, it's inevitable!
